MINUTES


Present:  John Adams, President; Lance Engle, Vice President; Valerie Alexander, Secretary; Alice Gillis, Member; Jacob Case, Member; Darin Gullion, Assistant Superintendent; and Greg Kile, Superintendent



  1. CALL TO ORDER


At 6:30 p.m. Board President, John Adams called the meeting to order.

A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case to amend the agenda, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.



  1. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE FLOOR 


James Lodl, DCCTA, thanked the Board and appreciates everything they have done with Administration in regards to creating the contract.  He appreciates the teachers and association team for the time and effort put forth to create this.  He stated everyone he has spoken to has been pleased with what we have so thank you.

  1. Samantha Clock requests permission to attend the Indiana School Counselor Association Conference to be held from November 9, 2023 through November 10, 2023 at the Marriott in Indianapolis, IN.


  1. Doug Marshall requests permission to attend the IASP Fall Conference to be held from November 19, 2023 through November 21, 2023 at the Marriott in Indianapolis, IN.

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Lance Engle to approve the Ratification of Master Contract Agreement, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case to approve Admin Contracts, as presented.  The motion was approved  5-0 vote.


  1. Superintendent Kile informed the Board about the following fundraisers:


  1. Julie Blakely and Whitney Freeman, request permission to sell Delta fleece blankets from October 23, 2023 through      November 17, 2023, as presented.  Proceeds go towards the Student Council fund.


  1. Jessica Papandria, DMS 7th Grade Class, requests permission to sell Papa Murphy’s pizza on October 26, 2023, as presented.  Proceeds go towards the 7th grade class.


  1. Assistant Superintendent


  1. Donations:


A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the following (item 1):


  1. Request for Eaton Elementary to accept the donation of school supplies from Dean Miers, as presented.

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the request for Delta High School to surplus items, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote. 


  1. LETTERS/NOTES



  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS


Jacob Case – Mr. Case hopes everyone had a good fall break and comes back recharged and ready to finish out the year strong as we get to Christmas.  He wished good luck to all the academic teams, especially Spell Bowl.  





Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis thanked everyone involved in negotiations because she knows how tough that can be.  She wished good luck to the Spell Bowl teams and all athletic teams who are still going strong.  She stated it’s good to see great things in the newspaper.  She wished good luck to the football and cross country teams and to the students taking the PSAT. She hopes they do well.  She thanked Mr. Clark for the Delta vests for the Board.


Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander wished good luck to all students during testing season.  She wished good luck to all sports teams and congratulated Nikki Southerland on committing to Notre Dame.  She congratulated her on all her hard work and stated she’s just as smart as she is athletic and she will do awesome.  She’s heard nothing but great things about how negotiations went and how happy everyone is.  She stated she’s proud of the good relationship we have here on both sides.


Lance Engle – Mr. Engle wished good luck to the football team as they start sectionals this Friday.  He congratulated those who are still in their seasons.  He informed everyone he attended the cross country meet on Saturday and had a good time.  He thanked all the parents and volunteers who helped make that event go smoothly.  He wished good luck to everyone the last nine weeks of this year.  


John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members.  He thanked everyone involved in negotiations and he’s glad we are able to do what we can do.  He stated it makes you feel good when you are sitting here and can do those kinds of things and for the right reasons.  He stated we had quite a few people go on fall break to different parts of Florida.  He hopes everyone had a good time and came back energized.  He stated he agrees with wishing the kids good luck on testing because it’s what we have to do.  He wished good luck to all athletic teams and hopes they can advance as far as they can.  He’s glad to hear about Nikki Southerland and her moving on to Notre Dame and stated that’s awesome.  He stated the Spell Bowl days were a lot of fun and the kids and parents enjoy it.  He stated there is something about watching those kids perform.  He commented it’s not a Friday or Saturday night ball game, but they are getting to do what they can do and he’s glad they can do that.  




  1. FUTURE MEETINGS


  1. A regular meeting of the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Monday, November 6, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.



  1. ADJOURNMENT


A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case and Board President, John Adams, adjourned the meeting at 6:49 p.m.
