  1. Darin Gullion and Greg Kile request permission to attend the Collective Bargaining and Law Seminar to be held on June 8, 2023 at Primo South in Indianapolis, IN.


  1. Robin Royal and Bethany Davis request permission to attend the eLEAD Summer of Learning Conference to be held from June 13, 2023 through June 14, 2023 at Anderson High School in Anderson, IN.


  1. Becky Watters and Ashley Larimore request permission to attend CompCon from Smekens Education to be held virtually from                  June 20, 2023 through June 21, 2023.


  1. Jessica Papandria requests permission to attend Going Deeper with Reading Like a Historian to be held virtually from July 11, 2023 through July 13, 2023.


  1. Joey Gossett requests permission to attend the 2023 NACEP National Conference to be held from October 22, 2023 through October 25, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis, MO.

  1. Linda Janney, DeSoto Alumni, requests permission to use the Albany Elementary gym on June 10, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to hold an Alumni Dinner, as presented.

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Alice Gillis to approve the recommendation to employ Chaise Penrod as Transportation Director effective June 12, 2023.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Alice Gillis to approve the ESS Midwest Substitute Staff Placement Agreement, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

A motion was made by Alice Gillis and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the following (items c-e):

  1. Tyronda Benning, DHS Girls’ Basketball, requests permission to hold a Youth Basketball Camp from June 26, 2023 through  June 28, 2023, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Boosters.

A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Alice Gillis to approve the following (item 1):

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

A drawing for transfer enrollments was held for the 2023-24 Royerton Elementary Kindergarten class.  The following is the order for the drawing: 1) Kamdyn Knight, 2) Tatum Knight, 3) David Kays, 4) Briggs Kramer-Cox, 5) Brady Kramer-Cox, 6) Navi Orienza, 7) Anaya McPhaul, 8) Aria Chandler, 9) Colt O’Dell, 10) Silas Walda,   11) Brooks Wyman, and 12) Oliver Kreitl.

A drawing for transfer enrollments was held for the 2023-24 Royerton Elementary 4th grade class.  The following is the order for the drawing:  1) Lucy Coffman.

A drawing for transfer enrollments was held for the 2023-24 Royerton Elementary 5th grade class.  The following is the order for the drawing: 1) Jacelynn Dishman and 2) Psalm Stanley-Obinna.


A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the following (items c-d):

  1. Request for Royerton Elementary School to surplus items, as presented.  

  2. Request for the Special Education Department to surplus items, as presented.  

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS


Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander informed Ms. Lewman great job with IREAD and ILEARN and getting that all wrapped up.  She stated it sounds like everyone has done well.  She thanked Mr. Conley for the sports updates and informed him great job with the graduation ceremony.  She asked Mr. Conley to inform Ms. Edwards that it was fabulous and she did a lot of hard work with that.  Ms. Alexander stated it was fun to be a part of that.  She stated she tried to get Ms. Spoljaric to stay one more year, but she was unsuccessful.  She wished her the best and is sad to see her go.


Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis stated good job to Ms. Lewman and she’s very pleased with the news regarding testing.  She stated graduation was beyond measure and it was very nice.  She stated nice job to all who put it together and she knows Ms. Edwards and Mr. Conley played a big part.  She stated she was tickled to be a part of it.  She wished good luck to all sports teams who are still going and congratulated Nikki Southerland, Kendra Keesling, and the boys’ relay team.  She commented she feels bad for Stitt getting shut out due to injury.  She wished good luck to the golf team.  She gave best wishes to Mr. McIntire and welcomed Mr. Penrod.


Lance Engle – Mr. Engle stated he thinks our high school graduation is better than everybody’s.  He commented we had a fantastic ceremony.  He stated it honors our graduates to the best of our abilities and blows him away every time we have it.  He stated the student speeches were great and fantastic job to all who put it together.  He wished the Class of 2023 nothing but the best and stated we have another great group of kids leaving Delta High School.  He stated Mr. McIntire has been around forever and is a great guy.  He wished him nothing but the best in his retirement.  He stated Spoljaric has been here 15 years and wished her nothing but the best.  He welcomed Mr. Penrod and appreciates him taking on that task and he’s sure he will do great.


Adam Williams – Mr. Williams concurred with his fellow board members.  He thanked Mr. Orr for his donation to the Retirement Breakfast and stated he does that every year and greatly appreciates it.  


John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members.  He thanked Ms. Lewman for the information on IREAD and stated that’s good to hear.  He congratulated Mr. Penrod and knows he will do great.  He thanked all those leaving, Mr. McIntire, and Ms. Spoljaric and stated they’ve affected our kids one way or another and thanked them for their time and effort.  He stated to the new people coming on, he’s glad they chose us and chose to be a part of the family.  He stated he’s not a big social media guy, but Mr. Clark and Mr. Conley do a great job.  He stated even if you aren’t at the event, it’s like you are there with the information they give.  He commented kudos to them for making all that happen.  He wished all the teams still performing the best of luck. He stated it sounds like Delta High School had a great year with what they achieved.  He thanked coaches, administrators, and all who are behind the scenes making those things happen.  He commented so many events are happening during the year and it’s amazing the amount of time spent outside of the normal school day, including weekend events that are happening.  



  1. FUTURE MEETINGS


  1. A regular meeting of the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Monday, June 19, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.
